How much do you think for break pad- change on Honda Civic?

My right front tire is making a screeching (shreiking ) sound ( as if 2 metals are making it ) when i turn the wheels ..

someone mentioned to me it could be the break pads?



i have to be honest here , i have been using the break pads pretty wildy ever since i bought it ( 3 months ago )

but do you think that's the problem , and if so can i change it for just one tire ( how much do you think it'll cost me , i am kinda tight now )

i am not sure if the warrantly will cover it , how would i find that out ?How much do you think for break pad- change on Honda Civic?
Probably the wear indicator is touching the brake rotor to tell you to have it checked out.



If it just needs a ';pad slap'; this will run between $50-100. This will include resurfacing the rotors. If the rotors are too thin or out of ';spec's'; they will recommend replacement and this will add $30-60 to the cost. Ask them to bleed the brakes as well.



Brakes are not a warranty item unless they spring a leak in a hose, cylinder, caliper or master cylinder.

well for safety reasons you should never replace just one side plus you get all the pads when you buy them.



performance friction pads from autozone (I was thoroughly impressed with them) $30



wrench for the two bolts holding the caliper on is what? at most $5



coat hanger for holding the caliper up so you don't stretch out the rubber hose - look in the closet



C clamp or channel locks or caliper spreader to push the caliper back into the housing for the new pads - another guesstimate of $5



some brake fluid $4



rotors are $27 each (duralast 2 yr warranty) if yours are warped, cracked, or too worn

if you can find a shop to have your rotors turned and get a ride to take them there its about $5 or so each



a book in case you think you cant figure it out Haynes manual $18



jack stands $20 or cinder blocks or RR ties or 4x4's or something to keep the car from possibly falling on you



so $34 to whatever depending on what you already have and what you need

well over $100 with whatever pads a shop has if you have it done
no a warranty won't cover it, and no you cant just do 1 side.

what country your in will determine how much it costs, this is world wide you know :D

buy some new pads and brake fluid and do it your self, its a stupidly easy job to do,

It depends on what year your car is, but under normal driving conditions a decent set of rotors and pads will last you 30 to 50k miles, in your case you mention that the noise is when you turn the wheels, so it might be that you need to replace a CV joint or a wheel bearing. I suggest that you take it into a mechanic for a general diagnosis of suspension and brake system, he will tell you exactly what your problem is, money wise, you are looking from 150 to 600 usd in parts and labor depending on your actual problem, newer cars (2002 and up) have sensors on the pads that indicate you with a witness light on the dashboard that they are due for change, and on the breaks you have to replace the pads/rotors on both wheels of the axle, not just one.
thats the problem it'll cost 100 bucks at midas or meineke but it'll be really cheap and easy to do it yourself brake pads only cost 15 bucks and it's really easy
I don't believe that warranty will cover your problem.



You buy pads in sets, so might as well do both sides.



Since your pretty wild on the brakes, you might wanna check or have the rotors checked to see if there is any problems with them or not.



Midas will come to about $100 to $150, depends if they like you or not, and area you go to.



The part itself should only be about $50.00 bucks or so, depending where you purchase, brand, and quality level you get.
