How do i change a broken mirror only on a chevy cavalier?

the mirror is craked and won't pass inspection . i need to replace the mirror but don't know how hard it would be to put a new one on . i heard that the mirror is only on by two sided tape and all i would have to do is get a new one and place it on . is it that simple?How do i change a broken mirror only on a chevy cavalier?
goto a auto glass shop and they will pop one off and 2 face tape or silicone a new one on, its alot cheaper than the dealersHow do i change a broken mirror only on a chevy cavalier?
Which mirror are you talking about. The inside mirror hooks onto a metal piece which is glued to the windshield. There should be a set screw that holds it in place. Loosen the screw and it should slide up and off.



The outside mirrors probably can only be bought as complete parts, but check with the dealer. There is probably a small plastic cover inside the door that snaps in place over the screws that hold the mirrors on. Pop it off and remove the screws.
If you are talking about the driver side mirror, then you have to order the part because you have to replace the whole mirror assembly. I had to do it for a friend once... pain in the forth point of contact.
