Changing break pads on front of 95 dodge caravan?

If I recall correctly, on that particular model vehicle, there are only two 13mm bolts that hold the caliper to the steering knuckle. Simply remove the two bolts, and the caliper should slide off. With the old brake pad sitting against the piston, use either a C-clamp or channel locks to compress the piston back. The rotors are just ';knock offs';. Make sure you specify whether you have 14';, or 15'; rims when you order your new parts. The two are different. Installation is just reverse of removal. Hope this helps.Changing break pads on front of 95 dodge caravan?
if iam not mistaken, there 1 bolt comes out and take a screwdriver and pry the caliper off.but before you do that, take a c-clamp and push the piston back in,so the new pads will fit.
Put your tire back on securely and take your van to a mechanical shop. Thinking you can change your breaks, is one thing, but actually doing it properly is another.

Each part you see has a specific purpose, and if one of them is damaged or installed incorrectly, you'll be putting all the other drivers on the road near you in danger.
If you have never changed brake pads before (it sounds like you haven't), I would suggest getting a copy of the Chilton's Manual for your vehicle. You can get this at your auto parts store for about $20. There are several steps that cannot be explained clearly in this forum and doing so would be a dis-service to you and, presumably, the children you are hauling in your van.

After you get the book, write back if you have any questions. We will be glad to help.
it is 2 bolts, usually with allen wrench type head, on the inside of the brake caliper. i have never worked on dodge caravan, but most have allen type.

if you couldnt find the bolts, dont go any farther. put the tire back on and take it to a brake shop. you will never get it fixed correctly.
i own a repair shop, and once the wheel is off of it,you have to remove the bolts that hold the caliper on and remove it away from the rotor, and the bolts are in the back, and if the rotors are ok you can go ahead and lightly press the brake calipers back in with a large c-clamp,do this slowly, and push them all the way back in,once this is done you can install the new pads on it and re-install the caliper on it,its not a bad job to do,just take your time with it,and you should do fine with it,good luck,i hope this help,s.
Go to your nearest auto parts store and buy the manual for the vehicle. If you are going to be performing your own maintenance, the approximately $15 investment will be well worth it. If you are really trying to save as much as you can, go to the reference section of your local library and see if they have the manual. If you are changing the pads, you will also want to check your rotors for warping, scoring, and minimum thickness. When I was young and poor, I would change the pads, ignore scoring and warping and I got away with it, however, that is not the safe way to do it.
