I have an Amana Washing machine.?

How do I change the broken Belt? The front of the machine pops off, but it does not appear I can change it from that angle.

Do I need to pop the top and take the tub out, or can I go through the back?I have an Amana Washing machine.?
They're not real easy to change but here you go:

Take the front panel off. (unplug the washer of course)

Slide the belt off of the big pulley in the middle.

Remove the hoses from the water pump (the thing with hoses connected to it under the motor).

Remove the bolts holding the motor in place (1/2'; I think).

The motor should now come off with the pump still attached.

VERY IMPORTANT - note how the old belt is run.

Remove the pump from the motor (T-20 or T-25 screws).

Reverse the process to put it back together.

Be prepared to have to replace the pump as well. They often leak after you change the belt.I have an Amana Washing machine.?
Do not tighten the belt any more. It will adjust itself while it is running. If you tighten the belt too much it will cause the washer to leak. It will spin too fast too soon. The water will whirlpool over the sides before the pump can drain enough water.

i have never had an amana, but have generally had sears kenmore washing machines and have always layed the front of the machine on a tire (without rim) on the floor and accessed the belt through the bottom. don't know if that's possible but check it out.

good luck to ya
They are a real bear to change and I have vowed to never replace another one. I would junk it and buy a Kenmore/whirlpool top loader.
