What needs to be replaced in this car? How much will changing break linings cost?

Hi,

I recently purchased a 2001 toyota camry. When I took it for mechanical inspection, he said the following in the inspection report for break section: -

Break noise - May require attention soon

Excessive dust - May require attention soon

Steel line condition - May require attention soon

Front linings - Requires Immediate attention

Rear linings - Requires immediate attention

He said that ';Front and Rear brakes needs to be replaced';. He said for all the four tires, it can be done in 500$. Can some one estimate based on this information what might have to be replaced? also a comment on the price would be great.

ThanksWhat needs to be replaced in this car? How much will changing break linings cost?
Sounds like they would be replacing the pads/shoes and rotors/drums. Price is not bad for 4 wheels. I got a quote once for almost $400 to do 2 wheels - did it myself for much less..What needs to be replaced in this car? How much will changing break linings cost?
Go to www.repairpal.com This is a free site that will give you the cost of parts and labor plus repair shops in your area.

Just give it your car info. what you need done and zip code and it does the rest. This mechanic is covering all the bases because all of the above will be taken care of when brakes disks are replaced.

Here in San Antonio they charge about $100 per axel(wheel) or what ever they think they can get
Sounds like pads and rotors all the way around-

About an average cost to repair at an aftermarket facility!

Good Luck!
