How to get Word 2003 to use the right page numbers?

How does one get MS Word to stop reinitializing the page numbers it inserts on each page using Insert %26gt; Page Numbers when you change page break sections. Word keeps resetting the page numbers to 1 even thou it clearly shows page 11/40 down in status bar.

Is there any way to pull the proper page or tell Word to continue from the previous page number? I have 6 section breaks in my document, which I need, and the page number has reset at each one.How to get Word 2003 to use the right page numbers?
Double click on a page number in the second section to view header and footer. Then click on the ';Link to Previous'; (formerly ';Same as Previous';) button. Do the same in any other section in your file. How to get Word 2003 to use the right page numbers?
