Actually, Nicole, the word is ';brakes'; and you need to get at least 3 estimates from different shops; prices will vary and you want them each to point out what needs to be done, so you will know if you are getting ripped off or not. Look at the website www.fixya.com or www.ehow.com and there will be pictures of the brakes and the parts they have - that way if a shop says you need new rotors, you can know if you need them or they are trying to sell you something unnecessary
Most of the time your front brake pads wear out 2 - 3 times faster then your rear brake shoes (pads), so most likely you will just need new front brake pads, which you can buy at only auto parts store for around $20 bucks, if you know someone that could put them on for you. Now you should be able to have a complete brake job done for around $100.bucks.
