How to change breaks?

how do i take the back break drum off a citroen xsara westcoast t reg so i can replace the break pads? How to change breaks?
If you have to ask this get a trained mechanic to do it for you 1, you don't take off a drum to change pads, two completely different types of brake system! (unless internal shoes inside a disc brake for handbrake ,bmw etc) there is most likely a lip worn inside the drum stopping you from removing it easily but if your not trained the brakes and steering should be left to skilled people. How to change breaks?
Changing out brAKE pads can be difficult. Especially if your replacing drums and shoes, and especially if you've never done it before. I would imagine it becomes even more difficult if you aren't aware of the difference between brake shoes, pads, drums, and calipers. With that being said... The drums should come off fairly easily once the tires have been removed, if its stuck, make sure the brake is not engaged and give it a few good taps. (note: make sure your cars not going to move if the brakes are not engaged) That's the easy part. You're going to see a series of springs holding the shoes into place... take a picture, draw a diagram, do whatever you have to do to remember where each and every spring goes. Remove the springs, make sure to save all of them unless you're replacing them as well. Now this is where it can get difficult if you've never changed out brake shoes before... It can be done with pliers and a screwdriver if your experienced and know what you're doing, but there are also special tools that you can purchase for this specific purpose that makes it that much easier for even the more experienced guys. Once the springs have all been removed, remove the shoes, replace them with the new ones and reverse the whole process with the springs... its much easier taking them off then it is putting them back on, which im sure you'll discover for yourself if you attempt this job. Once you're finished, just do it again for the other side. I would recommend getting the Haynes manual for your car. It will give you step by step instructions. Then again, after buying the parts, tools, the Haynes manual, and the amount of time it would take with the learning curve... you might be better off having a shop do it. Not to mention that brakes aren't necessarily something you'd wanna be unsure about when you're done, but that's just my two cents. If you opt to tackle this job yourself, goodluck... and remember, the right tools will make any job easier!
I understand the do it urself thing for i am the same way. They have a tool for drum breaks. If you dont have one then it will be very difficult. If they are older you may need to beat it with a hammer to get the drum off. I that dont work try using a torch and heating it up to expand the metal, then beat it off with a hammer. Again ITS NOT EASY if you dont have the right tool. Just be patient and dont be afraid to be aggressive with it. You'll get it.

i just take a big screwdriver and stick it between the drum and the backing plate and hit the drum with a big hammer.
