do u need a very good mechanic to talk u thru? Just leave me a note in forumHow do i change the rear breaks on my ford escort 1996?
It is suppose to just come off with a little tap or wiggling. It sounds like you might have bit or a rust problem. Just spray pb blaster or any penetrating lubricant generously all over especially on the backside of the drum which is the side you don't see from the outside. You can try hitting it with a rubber mallet as you don't want to deform the drum with a regular hammer. Hit it pretty hard at different locations. You can also use a medium to large flat head screwdriver and scrap the back and try to pry it off. If it is still stuck try heating it with a propane torch for under a minute just heat it all over. Then let it cool or for a few second then try hitting it with a hammer again it should come off. If not you should put on some gloves and try wiggling it using brute force it should come off by now. If it is still stuck try heating for two minutes. If after trying all these things and it still doesn't come off I would take it to a professional shop as they have air hammer, chisels, etc to do the job. Unless that is you have compress tools to work with. If you do have air tools I would use a air hammer and hit it in the center of the drum and that should do the job. Good luck.
