How do I change over summer break? Tips and answers..?

Ok, so all in all I'm a pretty girl, but I have major flaws. Like, my hair gets greasy after like 6 hours, I sweat alot, my skins dry and my makeup comes off by like 6 hours. I want my hair to make my hair shinier, without it being greasy. I'm getting my braces off, and colored contacts this summer. How do I fix the flaws though? Don't say learn to live with them, cause I know there has to be ways to fix them. How do I change over summer break? Tips and answers..?
Try a dry shampoo for your greasy hair. The one I use is called Batiste and I get it at Sally Beauty Supply. If you don't have a Sally's in your area, there's lots of places where you could order it online. I love it! Batiste is powder in a aerosol can that you shake and spray on your greasy spots. The powder comes out white but you massage it in then brush it and it absorbs all the grease! I highly recommend it, you won't have to shampoo as much!

If your skin is dry, try to get an exfoliating face wash, ones with the little beads in them. It should take off all those layers of dead dry skin so your make up won't be so built up. Also, have you ever tried a creme foundation? It's helpful for people who are in the middle (not quite dry not quite oily), I also find it better for sensitive skin. Set your foundation with a light powder and it will probably last longer! How do I change over summer break? Tips and answers..?
Well, for the part about greasy hair, it can be a number of reasons. First, try to take a shower every day so that the grease doesn't pile up. However, only use conditioner every other day and just on the ends of your hair. conditioner is usually what makes people's hair greasy. You can also put some dry shampoo in your hair every morning that will freshen it up and make it look a lot less greasy. Sweating you could obviously use deodorant but im not sure about the sweating on the face. Use a sweat proof tinted moisturizer for your face and put pressed powder over it. To make your hair shiny use CHI silk infusion and then straight iron your hair. It looks AMAZING. Definitely whiten your teeth after getting your braces off.

Servicing my car ..checklist.?

Hi my car has 140.000 miles

Is a honda civic..

I learned to do some basic service of the car my self (checking breaks /changing breakpads discs, changing oil and filter, fuel filter, etc)

Can you please provide me with a service checklist (things that the garages do when you take your car for service)..

I was also wondering if there is specific service / part replacement that needs to be done considering how many miles it has ( ineed to change the cambelt at some point but except that) e.g replacing a part in the engine.

I really like the car and i want to make sure that it will run reliably for many more miles...

I think i should take it to honda a service soon :-)Servicing my car ..checklist.?
Generally there is a list in the back of your owners manual (if you still have it).

Also, you can go to a Dealer and they should provide you with a list.

Your car has a 140.000 mi. The timing belt. That you called cambelt. Should be replacedwant. The repair manual call for 160.000 mi. Well you don't want it to brake. Cause it will cost a lot more damage than replacing it early. The transmission should be service at around 100.000 mi. Some have filter that need to be replace. The velicle should have had a turn-up. This includes changing the fuel filter, air filter an crankcase vent filter if it has one. You can get a full range of services on your vehicle at the dealship.Servicing my car ..checklist.?
Get your timing belt changed. Since your car has 140,000 miles on it, now is a good time to change it.
The timing belt is probably a good idea. Your owners manual should provide you the information you seek.

In addition, you probably have one from a previous visit to a repair service. The companies will generally give you an estimate form, where they'll check the applicable actions they'll take after inspecting your car. You could probably visit Firestone, Pep Boys or one of the other shops and get a blank form...

Just grease up where you can underneath the car

why replace something when its not broken, unless you're switching it out for a performance part

How do I change the Rotors and Disc Breaks on a Ford Ghia myself and not going to a mechanic?

    the basics are like this...

    raise and support vehicle

    remove tires

remove the caliper mounting bolts, lift caliper away from rotor being careful not to damage the brake fluid hose

    remove brake pads from caliper

    compress caliper piston

    insert pads

    reassemble unit

    it's not that hard

    get a manual

a worthy note though is caliper pistons made of steel tend to be reusable while plastic ones don'tHow do I change the Rotors and Disc Breaks on a Ford Ghia myself and not going to a mechanic?
simple, get a manual, follow instructions, job done. Should only need basic tools, socket set, screwdrivers etc, oh! and a jack and stands.

Insert auto-updating page number references in BODY of Word doc?

How do you insert page number references in the BODY of a Word (2003) document that will AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE when document page breaks change?

For ex, I have a long document whose content changes often. I want to be able to say ';Also see Product A on page ___ or Product G on page ___';, or ';Refer to table on page ___';. I need to insert a code that will automatically update those page numbers each time the page breaks change. I know I did that years ago but can't even remember what it's called.Insert auto-updating page number references in BODY of Word doc?
You use a bookmark and a reference to it. Do this:

First, to set up the bookmark. For a reference to a table, skip this.

    1. Click where you want the bookmark to go.

    2. Click the Insert-%26gt;Bookmark menu item.

    3. Give the bookmark a name.

    4. Click the Add button.

    5. Click Cancel.

Now to insert the reference. This works for both bookmarks and tables.

    1. Click where you want the reference to go.

    2. Click the Insert-%26gt;Reference-%26gt;Cross Reference menu item.

    3. Select the type of reference, bookmark or table, in the Reference Type list box.

    4. In the Insert Reference To list box, select Page Number.

    5. Click Insert.

Note that these references may not automatically update if text changes move the page number. If you select the entire document (CTRL/A) and press the F9 key, they will update.

You can also set them to auto-update before printing this way:

    1. Click the Tools-%26gt;Options menu item.

    2. Click the Print tab.

    3. Check the Update Links checkbox under Printing Options.

    4. Click OK.

    Hope that helps.

Cheapest way to see a dcotor?

what is the best way to minimize the cost of a doctors visit. For example I already know the symptoms of my problem so I dont need to pay a doctor to tell me what I already know and can observer, but I need testing done so how can I go about getting the testing done without paying the doctor charge. Its like taking a car to the shop knowing you need your breaks changed, so you would not go to the mechanic and pay him to tell you that you need your breaks done then pay him to change your breaks, you would just pay him to change your breaks.Cheapest way to see a dcotor?
Try a medical clinic at any teaching hospital. There, the student doctors will see you, at reasonable rates.Cheapest way to see a dcotor?
Everyone know the symptoms they have. They would probably have to check before they prescribe anything. Or, move over here to England, and get it through the NHS.

Car runs louder and shudders when at a stop?

I am a proud owner of a 1998 Hyundai Accent, proud because I drove drove it 5,000 miles on a road trip and she survived. Right now she's at 127,600 miles and it had a safety check before the road trip. Near the end of the road trip I started noticing the car just sounds louder, and the shudder when its idle is a bit jerky, kind of spastic, when I'm at a stop light. When the car shifts gears automatically it feels a little funny too, so maybe they are all related. I try to gently speed up to make it easier on the car. I've been good about oil changes and just replaced air filter. part way through the road trip I had to replace a fan (I believe it was related to the air conditioner), one of two that were broken, because the coolant was overheating to a boil for a while. I'm nervous its something expensive. I've put three times more money in the car in repairs than what I paid and don't know how much more I can give.

Also, the breaks have been squealing since before the safety check. Back breaks were replaced and it still squealed. had two more mechanics check them out and said they were fine, aside from a hose not being put on correctly from back break change (went 3000 miles before break fluid started to leak out excessively), but even when THAT was fixed it still squealed. Not it's getting louder and at times it turns into a tone (normally the squeak is high pitched). It's not always, and it happens when I'm just starting to break, not when I'm really trying to slow down.

I've dealt with three mechanics on this trip, all say different things (one being to trash the car completely) so I just want to know what may be the problem before I start running all over another unfamiliar town looking for a trustworthy mechanic. Thanks!

(Timing belt and water pump were replaced before road trip also, everyone always asks about that)Car runs louder and shudders when at a stop?
My first thought are the engine mounts. With the car in park and turned off, open the hood. Stand in front and push the car gently. If the engine moves easily while pushing the car then it's the engine mounts. Most cars if you push hard enough the engine will rock, the difference is in how easily. If you're having to put your back into it, you're pushing too hard.

you can replace engine mounts yourself and they're really pretty cheap, between $10 to $50 a piece.

To replace an engine mount lift the front end onto jack stands. Put your jack under the engine and place a block of wood between the engine and the jack (this prevents damaging the oil pan which would be even more money for you). Push the jack up until there's a small amount of pressure on the engine, you're looking to use the jack to support the engine weight, not lift the car. From there you can remove the engine mounts safely. This procedure should take an hour or two.

If it's not the engine mount... well come back and ask questions OR you could pay a mechanic to check it out (around $40 from places like goodyear) and then do the work yourself, which people here I'm sure would be happy to help you with.

As for the brakes, check out the front brakes as well as the back. If the pads all have plenty off life, then the rotors and or drums may need to be turned. To avoid squealing breaks don't use them as much. Squealing for lack of a mechanical problem is a sign that you're getting them hot and using them a lot. Down shift on hills to use the engine to slow you (yes it works on an automatic, that's what the numbers on the shifter are for), remember driving school and only use one foot, using two feet you will have a tendency to slowly put pressure on the pedal and that will glaze the brakes (as well as reduce their life). Don't brake too hard or too slowly, sudden stops and riding the brakes both cause lots of heat and glazing.

  • Career change: how to break into editing?

Going through a career change and would like to know where and how to start a career in editing. Any advice?Career change: how to break into editing?
The best way to break into the field is by gaining the knowledge and skills you'll need as an editor. Many local college campuses offer editing and proofreading courses that can help familiarize you with grammatical rules, editorial styles and proofreading marks. You'll want to purchase a couple of manuals for yourself:

AP Style Manual -- Often used by newspapers and other publishers.

APA Manual: Frequently used by academic publishers; often the style guide that is followed for writing upper and undergraduate papers.

Chicago Manual: Followed by many publishers for magazines, fiction and non-fiction.

These are by no means set in stone, but they are the most commonly used style guides. There are other guides on the market, but unless you are working in a specialized field (medical, for instance), you are fine learning the guidelines in these three.

Each of these style manuals presents a different way of editing. For instance, if you were editing a sentence that used commas, you would not use the serial comma if you were editing using AP, but you would with APA. (';I like apples, bananas and peaches'; versus ';I like apples, bananas, and peaches.';) Both of these are correct -- the most important part is to be consistent and stick with one style. Your employer will tell you which style the company prefers to use.

As far as job opportunities, look beyond publishing houses. Most businesses need someone with a good eye to look over their documentation or publications. In the newspaper, you'll find jobs listed under several headings including advertising, communications, editorial marketing and public relations.

On your resume, you'll want to highlight the courses you have taken that demonstrate your interest in editing. Make sure to mention any sort of editing you've done in your past positions as well. Your experience will give any future employers the confidence to hire you!

To be an editor, you must have an eye for detail and truly enjoy working with the English language. I hope this helps you as you start your new career! (And please forgive any typos in my reply to you -- I'm taking a lunch break and couldn't resist answering your question! :)

Why such a emotional change during a relationship break up?

How come when someone you love (or at least are still intereted in) breaks up with you. You can go through such a change of sadness and lonliness missing the person for a few days, to anger and not caring the next few days.

It's going back and forth for me in like day cycles and im getting very frustrated! Thanks for your helpWhy such a emotional change during a relationship break up?
Breaking up with someone can be emotionally and physically draining. You will experience anger, loneliness, sadness, happiness (seeing that your OK after the break up) and I PROMISE, those emotions will NOT be in that order. One day you will feel fine, and the next day you will feel miserable. What i suggest you do is try to do things that you ENJOY doing that maybe you couldn't do while you were in a relationship, take some classes at the local gym,go out and mingle with new people. But, its okay, to feel lonely, everyone goes through it, because your routine of being in that particular relationship, is disrupted. So just keep your head up and know that with each day it does get better. But, allow yourself to grief for MAX 1 week and then let time takes its course. Why such a emotional change during a relationship break up?
Ending a relationship is like losing a limb - you have to learn to do things all over again by yourself. You go through all the stages of loss due to the ';death'; of the relationship.

    Eventually it gets better.
There are, according to a very accepted theory known as the Kubler-Ross Model, five stages of grief. And when we lose someone we love, it's like a death. We grieve.

    The stages are:

    1.Denial: This isn't real, she'll come back.

2.Anger: you know what, screw her for doing this to me!

3.Bargaining: I'll do whatever, just come back.

    4. Depression: Oh my god i miss her i can't handle this.

    5. and acceptance. where we can accept the loss and move on.

The stages don't always happen in order and may happen more than once or in cycles, like you are saying, but generally we experience a little of all of them until we get to acceptance and move on.

And i'm not saying you are, but if you are drinking to deal with it, it takes MUCH MUCH longer to get better! I drank for like two years after a girl leaving me and didn't get over her for two years, nah mean?

    Stay up.

easy to replace yourself..... and cheaperCost of changing brake pads on vw?
Brake pads are Not under warrenty, it is a wear and tear item.

As mentioned $30 a set if you do it yourself.

A Auto repair shop would charge around 75 to 99 dollars us per axel. A dealer may change a little more depending where you live.
In England, dealers charge about 拢85 for a set of back pads. And by sporty breaking i assume u mean screwing it into the ground, then anywhere from 6 months to 18months. Your more likely to stress fracture the discs than burn the pads out though.

Get employed with a cruise company. They pay the travel for you and you get time ashore in lots of different ports.

Log onto their websites and access their vacancies pages. There are many many companies, apply to them all and one of them will call .... I promise!

They will advise you on visas. My husband did it (we're from Cornwall) and I get to travel with him for free!!!

What is wrong with my car?

When I press on my breaks it sounds like I am driving on my rims. also the o/d off light comes on and off randomly while driving it.

My dad says that I need to get my breaks changed but I was wondering how much that might cost. What is wrong with my car?
Sounds like metal on metal? Your brake pads are shot. If you can do it yourself you can go to Autozone, buy new pads and rotors and install them yourself in about 2-3 hours if you haven't done it before and have someone to teach you. After the second or third time, you'll be able to do both sides in an hour. The pads and rotors will still cost you less than having a mechanic replace the pads and machine the rotors. The problem is if the mechanic inspects your brakes and you need new rotors, by law, the shop cannot let you drive your car from the shop until it is fixed. Then you're stuck paying whatever they charge you. It will cost a pretty penny regardless because shops have to make a profit to operate and they can pretty much charge a lot because you definitely need this done. Sorry for the bad news, but at least it's not your engine. The O/D light flickering on could be you transmission going bad or you may need a transmission service done on your Protege. The Mazda Protege is a very reliable car so make sure to keep up on the maintenance and you'll be happy for many years to come. What is wrong with my car?
the noise is the brakes worn down terribly.should be about 35 a pair.
i own a shop, and more than likely its going to cost around 3-400 bucks to get it done right,if all it needs is brakes, they,ll check it out real good, and let you know if it needs anything else on it,good luck with it.
you probably need brakes and maybe get your rotors turned if not new ones. It should be about 40-60 for front brake pads and turning rotors is about 20 per one. Autozone does it but you have to take it apart yourself. Just always ask to see the old parts they are replacing to make sure they arent screwing you. As far as the o/d light, i have no idea

IF YOU PAY 300-400 YOU AER GETTING SCREWED!!!!
Yes Its you brakes , I don,t think I would take it to the dealer It will coast about 800.00 Dollars for the dealer to change brakes, Check around first, Or maybe Dad could do it Its easy for some , Hope this helps
Sounds like your brake pads have worn down to metal to metal.

(possibility hub bearing) will cause the o/d to go out... but the shop should be able to verify the engine codes..
if it sound like your riding on your rims you might need new rotors and new pads you should have gotten it checked sooner
well brakes pads rotors drums and if you lived out here i could fix it becasue now i am an ASE CERT MECHANIC IN 5/8 your looking at up to 900 bucks for brakes and with the od light the torque converter is going bad not giving it that gearing gain it needs sorry thats going to cost possibly up to 2k

MOVE TO WISCONISIN TOO MANY MECHANICS NOT ENOUGH JOBS
First, Breaks. If your car has been making this noise for a while, you will need break pads and most likely break rotors. The rotors are the expensive part, probably $150 each (need 2 if it is only the front or rear, 4 if both front and rear).

Second may or may not be a problem. Your o/d (overdrive) light is for your transmission. You want your o/d ON for best gas mileage. The o/d off light is telling you that you are not getting the best mileage. The switch should be on your gear shifter. The light may come on when you are driving fast, like on the highway telling you to turn the o/d on for better mileage. Check your owners manual to be sure.
Probably past saving. Gonna probably cost you at least $300
if the o/d off light flashes while you are driving, then it is telling you that there is something going on with your traqnsmission. the o/d light flashing if about the same thing as a check engine light .... just telling you there's something wrong that needs to be fixed.

Guys have u ever been with someone who u were really close but then changes and break your heart?

i'm facing it right now...been really close to that girl!she was so nice.i would never imagine that she would have done that kind of stuff to me.

as she really broke my heart with her action and by her words!

she has really changed..and not in the best way!

guys how did u overcome that?

as sometimes the memories of the nice and lovely girl come back from time to time...and this makes me so sad to see how she is now!

    anyone been trough it?

what u did?Guys have u ever been with someone who u were really close but then changes and break your heart?
yep many times in high school when i was younger. But there will always be changes in life.. and those are things that we all have to accept. IT happens with many people.. thats why everytime before you start a relationship, you always have to be aware of changes.. it happens all the time~some changes are good, and some are just simply bad.

what i did?? i just think that it was time for me to grow up and understand what relationship is all about. I used that as an example and since then, i'm usually aware of changes in any relationships. THinking about the past can make u go crazy.. if you dont like who she is now.. MOVE ON, dont waste your precious time behind her, when you could be seeing someone better.Guys have u ever been with someone who u were really close but then changes and break your heart?
    i havent...
Yes, there really is nothing you can do. I guess that is the part that hurts the worse. Time takes care of everything. Find another girl that will also help.
    Never recovered.
Yep. I was genuinely in love with her too. Turns out she was using me, and cheating on me. I thought she was the one, I thought that we'd be together forever and that she sincerely loved me as well. She was absolutely perfect then turned out to be the complete opposite.

I still haven't gotten over it. Best thing to do is to move on and show her you don't need her anymore.
    People change.

    I used to know someone who was all about philosophy and thinking. He had a girl friend who did that with him, but all of a sudden, his girl friend says, ';Give up on that, there's nothing good out of that.';

    So he split.
    yup, a lot
gone through this situation.nothing special just made him felt that he was so yesterday. really that revenge was sweet
    -hugs you-
The solution is just leave her alone.let her be.ignore her.go see her after a few days and then discuss about it ok.goodluck.

Unfortunately that brake light doesn't have a replaceable bulb. The whole unit will have to be changed. I just changed one out on my 04 suburban. Cost me about $85 for the part, sorry not a typo there. Expensive but easy enough to change. Remove the screws, pull it out enough to get to the wire and disconnect.

It could be a fuse but not positive if it wouldn't be tied to your other brake lights. Obviously if so, those would be out also. If separate, it would be located in the cab fuse box. Drivers side on left side of dash, should be a label indicating what each fuse is for.

Good Luck! How do i change a back break light?
Take it to Autozone, tell them you want to buy a bulb for it and they will probably either install it for you or tell you how to do it.

I am going to assume its going to be the same price as the Alero.

Just pads front 80. for the cheapies

Rotors and pads 180. to 250 depending on the cost of materials

All around brakes 180 to 500, depends on the parts that need changing.

The Alero is notorious for warping rotors so they usually need to be changed. I've got a front brake job with new rotors down to 45 minutes, no air tools and torquing all bolts to spec.

If you lift visor there should be a red release catch inside the slot

after visor is off the 'pods' should pry off and twist slightly. They are a very tight fit and easy to break.

I think Arai still sells replacements

  • How do I know when I can handle a horse that needs an experienced rider?

I can ride trails, gymkhanas, bare back, I can lounge, round pen, put miles on a horse who is newly trained, flying lead changes, paces, breaking at the poll, collecting, seat cues, a little reining, almost anything, and even switch horses during the day working with each one up to 2 hours or more depending on the workout. I would like to be able to handle a horse that is difficult but how do I know when I am ready? How do I know when I can handle a horse that needs an experienced rider?
You are not ready if you are still afraid. You sound confident in your skills, though, so now you need to ask yourself if you are overconfident. When you are sure of yourself, then you are ready to TRY to ride a difficult horse. You can't know for sure unless you try. But be safe and work your way up. Talk to owners of difficult horses, and ask them if they would watch you handle their horse, and eventually ride it. Horses can't be divided into two categories (easy, difficult). It is a spectrum. Challenge yourself, but don't bite off more than you can chew.

The second part to handling a horse is to convince it to trust you. Not only is this so that the horse isn't outright afraid of you, but also that it trusts you enough to LET YOU BE IN CHARGE. Be the boss, gentle, but firm. How do I know when I can handle a horse that needs an experienced rider?
When you know you can stay on a horse/pony while they are bucking, and not get thrown off %26amp; be able to stop them . Thats how I learned, and I started riding crazy barrel horses, horses that were very abused and spooked at a leaf going past, and horses that are just plain difficult to ride and you need to be on them all the time . You seem like you know what you're doing, if you can do flying lead changes, bare back, reining, and anything difficult, you can def. start riding a more difficult horse to ride .
If you ride one and stay calm, relaxed and confident .also know what to do if they rear ,buck,side-hop,take off, start running backward, and can stay on for quite a bit before being bucked of ect (everyone falls at some point ) starting horses ..you have to know alot about training them and when not to push them
I'm not really sure if your asking about a horse that is for sale because you see that posted some times. I personally stay away from ads that say that. To me, it's sending out red flares that say's the horses is crazy or close to it.
You don't know until you try. There will always be a horse that ';pushes your buttons'; that you can't deal with, but that may be down the road a bit.
the onyl way to know is to hop on one in a closed off area wiht a lovely temperment so wont buck u off

althought ue better to work up the scale insted of going straight to it
When you don't have to ask this question
    sounds like you are bragging
That is really hard to tell. I would ask someone who knows you really well for the most accurate answer.

From what you say it sounds like you would be able to ride most horses that they consider to need an experienced rider. If you are planning on buying a horse that needs a more experienced rider, go and try the horse out. That would be your best bet.

Have you been constantly switching to even harder to ride horses? That's the best way to be able to tell. It seems like you have been riding horses that at least need intermediate riders.

I am fairly new to riding. My first mare was a stubborn 12 year old grade pony who I still own. She was hard to control for a beginner but not now (I still own her). I started riding a hot 12 year old Arabian, and found she was at first a bit difficult to control. She had been trained as an endurance horse and never knew much about barrel racing, etc. So I almost was finishing her training. Eventually though, I got her to do an almost collected trot and canter, and to rate herself when going around the barrels. My lease contract on her eventually expired and I returned her. I'm back to my grade mare now that is super easy to ride. When I get enough money I want to get a younger horse to put miles on as you did, or some horse with bad habits like the Arab mare who wouldn't rate or collect herself.
You did not make any declaration about your abilities that indicated you have the slightest idea about handling a difficult horse. And if you have to ask the question, you are definitely not prepared to do so. If this is your goal, you need to invest some time in education with colt starting as a first step. There are horses that it is a major accomplishment when you can just touch them all over with your hands. It has nothing to do with your ability as a rider. Again, I presume you were talking about ';horse handling'; and not just being able to ride a green, ill-trained, out-of-control horse (which no one should do). So while it is a bit vague about what you mean by ';handling a difficult horse';, so my answer is my interpretation only. You need to know how to start a horse from the ground. Are you able to keep your emotions in check in a dangerous situation? You have to develop a very quick action (not a reaction) response. Again, you do not express any experience in areas that are , in my opinion, mandatory for dealing with challenging horses. Be safe. The calmest, sweetest, kindest, most broke horse on the planet can cost you your life in a millisecond. ';Difficult'; horses usually have a lot of fear and confidence issues, so without proper knowledge and ability, it is extremely high risk. Find someone who can help you learn what you need to know. good luck.

    Question about changing brakes?

I was following directions from an Edmunds website, and one paragraph said this...

The rotor is that shiny metal disc staring you in the face right now. You can almost see your reflection, right? Get your eyes level with it. If you can't see your face, or at least its general outline, it may mean that the disc needs servicing or replacement. Below, we'll show you how to check this disc for scoring or marring, and what to do about that.

If my rotor is covered in brake dust, will I still be able to see my reflection?

Does a LOT of brake dust mean its time to change my breaks?Question about changing brakes?
A rotor that has been used on a vehicle will be very shiny. There should not be enough brake dust on the rotor to hide your reflection.

If the brake pad lining appears to be the thickness of a 3.5 disc or less, you should replace them.

I would also recommend taking your rotors in and having them checked for thickness and to see if they can be turned, if they are thick enough I would suggest having them machined.

A new rotor or a resurfaced rotor will have a dull silver color associated with them, you will not be able to see a reflection of anything in them.Question about changing brakes?
how thick are the break pads if there are thin then replace them
When servicing the breaks, the rotors should always be machined or replaced. Most shops charge (IF you bring the rotor TO THEM) 4$ per rotor to machine them back to flat.

Brake dust is irrelivant if the rotors and pads are in good condition and you don't hear any squeaks or grinding.

If you have no idea what you're doing, please have your brakes done by a professional, I'd prefer to NOT be rear-ended by a do-it-yourselfer.
No, a lot of brake dust doesn't have to mean it's new brake time. Buy some brake cleaner to remove the dust and look at the pads... if the liner is worn to the metal ';screech tab'; then it is time to replace, otherwise, just spray them clean and re-assemble.
You can wipe off the brake dust. Just don't breathe it in. As for if you need to change your brakes, if the rotors feel perfectly smooth to the touch then they're likely okay, providing they're not worn down below the minimum thickness. Brake service centers and most garages have the specifications on minimum thickness for various types of rotors -- and the tools and know-how to measure them. If they're too thin the rotors are not strong enough and they can overheat, warp, crack or even snap off under heavy braking. (Which means you then have NO brakes on that wheel and the car can spin -- especialy on a slippery road surface.)

If the rotors are grooved on the surface they need to be either machined smooth again or replaced with new ones. Again, sometimes they can't be machined because they will have to be shaved down too thin and then they're not safe anyway.

Brake pads. If they're getting down anywhere near eighth of an inch or so they are dangerously low and should be replaced pronto. One sudden stop can strip off the last of the pad material and then it's metal on metal and that's bad news indeed. They won't work right, they'll screech like all get-out, and they'll get so hot you can actually weld a brake pad backing plate to a rotor. Not kidding, okay? Big bucks to repair if you don't crash beforehand.

If you have any doubts at all about whether your brakes are up to scratch or not, take your car to experts and let them have the responsibility of putting things right if needs be. Remember it's not just if they look okay, those rotors must be within the safety tolerance or they can fail very suddenly.

  • How can i get the squeak to stop from my brakes even if the break pads were changed recently? ?

Just bought a car dude said he changed the break pads last july, they squeak annoys the hell out of me. The car also shakes just a little while driving at 50-60mph its a 2004 honda accord coupe ...any suggestions? How can i get the squeak to stop from my brakes even if the break pads were changed recently? ?
Ok. Take this for a old time mechanic. Take the car to the car wash, and wash the hell out of the wheels.

What makes it squeak is the powder from the old breaks.

It will cost you maby 1.50 or less. How can i get the squeak to stop from my brakes even if the break pads were changed recently? ?
Verify that the pads are still usable and not worn.

Your front tires need to be balanced to get rid of the slight shake.
have the rotors cut and the tires balance
shaking from out of balance tires.

to quiet the brakes, you need remove the pad and put some 'quiet brake pad lube' on the back of the pads and reinstall.

quiet brake lube can be pickup at auto parts store.
the rotors need to be turned to get rid of the shake it would also take care of the squeak, if you don't want to have them turned you can get anti-squeak compound at the auto parts store that you put on the pads between the pads and caliper its like a high temp silicone the absorbs the vibration.
check pads and rotors. the shake is from unbalanced or bad tires. if your tires look good, get them balanced.

#1 Turn off the power at the breaker.

#2 Make sure the power is off.

#3 Check again that the power is off

#4 Have someone else check that the power is off

#5 Now try the potato trick. Or take a rag, and wrap your hand with it and grab the remnants of the bulb from the inside, and turn. How do you change a broken lightbulb?
You need to turn the switch off then loosen it with a pliers or something! Good luck!!!!.
    potatoes dont make electricity.

    lol.
just turn off the circut breaker for that set of lights, and you can use a potatoe to unscrew the blub, as long as the breaker is off you wont have any electricty going through there. if there is just the smallest of edges you can grab with needle nose plyers then that would work too
I have had this problem before and what I did was to use a wash cloth. I would stick it into it hard and then twist it while holding pressure on it. Hopefully it will work for you!
Hi,I would cut down an old broom stick handle on 4 sides. Then put the square end into the socket and unscrew the broken base of the bulb. They also sell in some hardware stores a base retriever, that is a blade that is insulated so you can attach this to a pole to reach hard to get places. Good Luck.

Can i do this to change my break pads?

I have a ford escort, 1992. The back left tire is making scratching noises when i drive, i've driven it about 35 km when it started and i've read by the signs thats its break pads (hopefully the rotors good), but i live in a town where there's no junk yards, can i just rip break pads off a buick revera that i have in my lawn? maybe the rotors too? do they have to be the same size tires? my car feels messed up when i break, not crazy but it feels as if its pulseing. how much canadain would it cost me to take it in if i have too? thanks for your helpCan i do this to change my break pads?
Hey, Oldschool, you missed a few!

    1. Lack of use of capital letters.

    2. ';I've driven it about 35 km. when it started';?

    3. ';That I have IN my lawn';? Buried?

    4. Pulseing?

    5. If I have too?? Me too. I might have to. Can i do this to change my break pads?
No the brake pads will not fit. The thing to do is to just go buy a cheap set of pads.I have done that in the past even if the rotor has groves in it. If you are down to the fins you will need to replace it all so.
Some Escorts have discs. If it is a GT or LXE model it will have four wheel disc brakes. Easy to tell by badging or check the engine and if it is a DOHC then it will have four wheel discs.

It sounds like the discs are warped. The cost for machining is pretty cheap. I have paid as much as 5 USD to as little as free ';since I do so much business here'; the manager said.

Call a few auto parts shops and as if they can machine discs and if they say yes then ask for a quote. They will tell you how it will cost, if they can be machined. If they are too far gone they can tell you how much replacements cost.
    lol

    1)it is spelled BRAKES

2)you'd take brake pads off of a car in the junk yard ?

3)there are no pads on the rear of an escort (they're shoes)

4)ford and buick parts do not match up

    5)it is spelled CANADIAN.
NO,NO,NO you caannot interchange brake pads and rotors like that all cars are differnt sizes and differnt styles on brake componets just go to a auto parts store and buy the correct parts there not that expensive.and do it the right way
brake pads won,t from a buick onto a ford. the rotors and rims won,t either.

  • Where are people learning to put a space before punctuation in English?

Why do so many people who learn English use a space after punctuation? I see it so constantly I wonder if they're specifically being taught to do it. I've only asked someone once (online) and he got touchy about it and said that's how he likes to do it and won't change (in broken english of course). This is the kind of thing I mean:

    This is a sentence .

This is a list of stuff: apples , oranges

    This is a question ?

Where do they learn to do this? I find it irritating to read.Where are people learning to put a space before punctuation in English?
I don't know, but I do put a space after a sentence that ends with a website or email address, like this: Alpine.Alli@yaho.com .

I've never been taught nor taught anyone to do that, it just makes sense to me. (I do teach English but I haven't noticed the situation you mention. It might be more common among people whose first language is non-alphabetical.)Where are people learning to put a space before punctuation in English?
I am hoping that it is fast typing and no editting.
Because many people are in a hurry and are careless (though I can't complain, I do similiar).
Let alone, punctuation!! the grammar leaves a lot to be desire!!!
I think it's a mistake, and I agree, it is irritating!
They probably learned it the same place they learned to spell.
We are specifically taught to do it. The space comes after the punctuation mark never before.

I'm an english native so I haven't been taught english as such, but I have had typing lessons.
I got confused with that. You were asking about a space AFTER punctuation, but your examples show a space BEFORE the punctuation mark.

Oh well, to answer your question, my English teacher used to tell me that most people make more errors when typing than when they're actually writing with pen and paper. I don't think it's an English lesson issue, but a typing issue.

As for those who speak English as a second language, it might have something to do with their native language. Maybe it's something they're used to doing with their native writing.
I was taught to put the punctuation mark next to the word that it follows, but to put a space after the punctuation mark. That is how I was taught in elementary school and I was never taught any different thru Jr high, high school, and college. Yes I was born, and educated in the USA
    That is irritating.
In typing class ( now word processing), I learned to put a space after punctuation marks. If people use the spelling and grammar check on some word processors, it will consider it an error if there is no space ( exception would be apostrophe in contraction/ possessives).

What bothers me is when they put the space before the punctuation mark or, worse, put a space both before and after the punctuation mark.

    This looks okay to me:

Where do they learn to do this? I find it irritating to read.

This looks a little off to me:

Where do they learn to do this ? I find it irritating to read .

Of course, my grandmother would say, '; Don't sweat the small stuff.'; Maybe adding an extra space is small stuff.

As an English teacher, I would probably not count off for a misplaced space, but don't get me started on some of the poor spelling and grammar...

has for fuel buy at place you stop at most offen fil with best they have set mileage drive til you need more try next octane level set mileage used the one that gets the best miles which will vary with each place knowing a few brands and type to use but most cars will run fine on them all but using the one that gets yourcar the best mileage is the one you want to use

windshield wiper blades once a yr

freons have it check once a yr

wash when dirty wax every other time or about four times or so a year when ever you feel like it has for

    cleaning insides when ever

wheel alignment once a yr or if you see tires are wearing or it drives funny as for wheel rotation easy to remember to do it with oil change about every 3000 miles its not so much as when to but to do most people dont do it at all heres a couple sites that you can find how to's and when

How often should you maintain your car?
Read your cars manual. It will tell you how often to service and what to do when you service it.

You should check your tyres as often as you can and definately before long journeys. You should get a pump.

Differences in petrol(gas) are only the octane rating, use regular unless your car requires premium. (Read the manual)

Freon is a trade name, but I assume you mean air conditioning refrigerant, you don't need to do anything with this unless your air conditioning stops working.

You clean your car when it gets dirty... I wax mine every time I wash it.. and I wash it a lot. It is personal preferance.

Wheel alignment I'd have done every year, unless you notice a problem. Make sure you get a 4 wheel alignment if you drive a rear wheel drive car.
Every car make is a little different, look in your service manual it'll have all that info.

Say if i made a<b> on myspace then wanted the rest of the text to b regular how do you change it back?the font?

break in font changes not break in line Say if i made a%26lt;b%26gt; on myspace then wanted the rest of the text to b regular how do you change it back?the font?
    this is quite simple

put a %26lt;/b%26gt; at the end of the part you want bolded

    ex.

    %26lt;b%26gt;bold text %26lt;/b%26gt;

    hope i helped

%26lt;333Say if i made a%26lt;b%26gt; on myspace then wanted the rest of the text to b regular how do you change it back?the font?
    just do it at the end of the text you want to be %26lt;b%26gt;
    %26lt;/b%26gt;
are you talking about bold font

    at the beginning of the writing you want bold put %26lt;b%26gt; then at the end put %26lt;/b%26gt;

    then rest should be normal.
    take the %26lt;b%26gt; away
    %26lt;b%26gt;BOLD TEXT%26lt;/b%26gt;
you've got the %26lt;b%26gt; [bold words] %26lt;/b%26gt; thing..

it's the same idea with font colors.

    %26lt;font color=cc3399%26gt; [pink font] %26lt;/font%26gt;

  • If someone did my breaks wrong, could they damage my cv axle?

Ok, So last week i got my breaks done at a mechanic shop.

The next day i heard a loud clunking noise coming from what sounded like the front passenger side tire.

It went away and i didn't hear it again till the next day. It seems like everyday it is getting worse. Mainly when im turning left, or slowing down. If im driving straight, i don't hear it.

I've done some research on the internet, and it sounds like the CV axle.

Could there be any other possibilities?

    Also, my main question.

Is there something the mechanic could have done while changing my breaks to make this sound happen. And if so, how do i prove it?

My car is a 2000 chevy cavalier, I have never had any problem with it, except for regular maintenance.

Please help!!If someone did my breaks wrong, could they damage my cv axle?
Well I dont see any reason for the brake guy to remove any parts that have to do with the CV joints.

It may have something to do with the brake job itself so take it back and have the guy remove the tire and rim and look it over before something bad happens. If someone did my breaks wrong, could they damage my cv axle?
take it back to the mechanic and ask them.
no , there no need to mess with cv shaft when doing front BRAKE service. you are right it does sound like cv shaft. You might check to see if he left lug nuts loose or caliper bracket
First off, you have got to determine what is actually causing the noise - it may not be the CV joint at all, it could well be a something as simple (and dangerous) as a loose wheel or improperly tightened brake caliper.

Have a mechanic take a look at it - the CV joints and brake system are not something that you should ignore.
    its a CV ''joint''...not axil

this wouldn't have been touched by anyone fixing the brakes..

there would be no reason for him to.

its just one of those things...

    purely coincidental
Its brakes (not breaks-you use breaks when you shatter a glass vase-it breaks). You need to take it back where the work was done or find another shop. I think Brake Check will take a look for free. Call some places in the yellow pagegs under auto brake work. Dont keep driving it until its properly fixed/

How to change Window Switch from nissan altima car?

last saturday I went to emission check and safety inspection check. he failed due to these reasons:-

    1) driver's side window is not working (I know the exact problem, just need to change Window Switch)

2)Headlight got dust need to clean

    3) back side number plate bulbs need to change

    4) break pads need to be changed

    5) axle need to change

He told me that 4 and 5 are optional no need to fix them to pass the safety test but 1,2, and 3 should be fixed. He told me that he can do those. but final bill he toled that 700 $, which is not worthful. I told him, that I can do it myself and came out with my car.

For head light cleaning, he asked me 140$. this is too much. I can get that headlight cleaners for 15 to 25$ and I can clean it myself. I need to know how to change Window Switch from nissan altima car? CAn anyone please guide me how to do? is there any video demo on this? How to change Window Switch from nissan altima car?
very simple, use a screwdriver to pop out switch from door panel, remove plug (there is a tab that you'll have to gently rise without breaking on the plug/harness) plug in the replacement and snap it back into the panel and you're done! if you prefer watching a video, they all change the same way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKbszdcMk

    ';Change';? Are you kidding?

How many people voted for Change by electing Barack Obama..... and then turned around and RE-elected the SAME bums and losers who have been screwing up our ';broken Washington';?

Not only was it terribly disappointing to watch Obama get elected, but I couldn't help but shake my head as I saw Kerry.... Murtha... and others ';win';.

WTF is wrong with you people? You elect a NOBODY because he promises to change a ';broken Washington';.... and you put the same CROOKS back into office with the same ballot?

Anyone else notice how STUPID this was?';Change';? Are you kidding?
My, there are a lot of disgruntled Republicans on here today.';Change';? Are you kidding?
Exactly, what were people thinking. This change he talks about is still undefined!
THEY ARE %26amp; IT';S FREAKING ME OUT!!!
you only think its stupid because you have twisted his words so they make him sound way the hell worse than he is.

get in line with the rest of the people on here bitching. its a pretty long line, you should have started walking sometime last week
I guess America who elected him, is way stupid.

And America is all wrong, compared to you.

    America, Finally got it right.
yep, this country really has its head up its a$$
    No, we're not kidding.

    Neither is America.

    A majority voted him in.

If you don't like it, leave.

But look at worldwide statistics about this Presidential election, because what we do here has an effect on EVERYONE. America has been too selfish for too long. The world wanted Obama, too.
    i know. i couldn't believe murtha won!
You sir are the moron. Go crawl in a ditch for the next 4 years for all i care, this country is going to flourish under his term.

    Obama+Kerry FTW!!

    {For The Win}
what are you talking about? With a Democrat President and a Democratic House and senate will FINALLY get things done.

When Bush was president for 8 years, 2 out of that 8 Dems had the majority. BUT Bush did not corporate despite the fact that he and the republicans made a mess of things for 6 years.

Americans are doing the Smart thing by electing democrats.

You are entitled to your opinion, but you have it backwards.
I think a lot of the people who voted on both sides are idiots personally. Moreover, I think at least 50 percent of the American vote is comprised of people who don't know anything about politics anyway. That said, Obama deserved to win in my opinion. The thought of what would happen under McCain/Palin frankly scares me, but it all depends on what your ethics are. Have you ever thought that maybe those people were actually re-elected into Washington because someone thinks they represent them well? Just because people don't agree with your opinions doesn't mean they're wrong. So my advice to you is to get over it and accept it.
Uh, Republicans have run Washington for most of the last 28 years. (Yes, Clinton was president for 8, but for 6 of those had a Republican Congress completely hostil etoward him; yes, Dems have had a slim majority, but not enough to get very much their way.)

So, you blame the party that's been out of power the last generation for all the rpoblems caused by the party that's been IN pwoer all this time.

    Truth just isn't in neo-cons.

Obama needs a Congress that won't try to thwart him in everything he tries to do; a Congress that won't keep trying to make EVERYTHING worse for the country.

I just hope people don't lose patience two years from now. They can't work miracles, and there's no way they can ever undo all the damage the Republicans have caused all this time.

It's not stupid to want to turn us from the brink of ruin.

What IS stupid is blaming the powerless for that ruin, and think that those who CAUSED the ruin are the solution to it.

The problem is they chose not to listen to the truth about Obama. They stopped listening to any truths after they heard change. Obama is such a smooth talker, with so much charisma they couldn't see the evil behind the mask. The economic change (this NEW change) was already tried by Teddy Roosevelt back in the 20's which brought about the deep depression. I honestly believe that Obama wants to break out nation so the New World Order will come into play. That's what the Clinton's tried to do when they were in.

However it is easy to be blinded by evil. I feel bad for those who chose to ignore the truth because they wanted change so badly. They will get their change but they won't like it. Or just maybe they will be too ignorant to notice.

If Obama raises the taxes on big business, it won't be big business that looses, it will be us. Big business will only raise their prices to compensate for the taxes and we all loose.

When it hits them in their pocket book, (and it will, without a doubt) maybe then they will see what they have truly done.

With taxes being raised, if someone wins a million dollar lottery, they will be giving the government $750,000.00 of it. Not hardly worth buying the ticket. Huh?!
Obama isnt for change, he is for more of the same. A lot more. Lets spend ourselves rich.

My back breaks Break unevenly in my 2001 Hyundai Sante Fe. What could it be and how can i fix it?

I went to get my inspection done on my vehicle and failed. Because my breaks where ';unbalanced';. So I took my car to a mechanic with a note saying my breaks where unbalanced. They resurfaced my rotors which were only 6 months old, changed my breaks, and changed the brake fluid. I went back and it failed once again for the same reason. What else could this unbalanced breaks be? From what the guy at the inspection facility explained to me it檚 that my back wheels are breaking unevenly, and that is also what檚 causing my wheel to shake when I do break. Please help! I have a month to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it. Also it's a 2001 hyundai sante fe.!My back breaks Break unevenly in my 2001 Hyundai Sante Fe. What could it be and how can i fix it?
I have been in the car business for over 10 years, with Hyundai for over 5 and I have never heard of unbalanced brakes. What I think they may be telling you is your caliper is sticking.

Brake systems are simple. You apply the pedal, fluid is sent to the caliper, a piston extends and pushes the pads against the rotor, slowing the vehicle.

There are generally more problems with rear brakes simply because they don't have to work as hard as the front. I suggest a brake service. The technician should remove the pads and service them and the slides, the caliper assembly is sanded for rust and treated with a special lubricant.

I'm not sure of the regulations in your state, but in NY, you only fail a vehicle inspection if your brakes are metal to metal.

Hyundai suggests front and rear brake services every 15,000 miles.

  • Change - Strategies for ?

Do you have any ideas on how to make change successful? I'm talking about life changes, specifically breaking bad habits and living a more fufilling life. I want to change an aspect of my life and i think i'll need to change my thinking, my attitude and actions. I'm not very confident and i don't know where to start but i know the important thing is to just do it.

Can you share some ideas or experiences that helped you when you decided to improve your living?

Thanks alotChange - Strategies for ?
You have to want to do something bad enough in order to be successful. Two years ago I quit smoking- never thought it would happen but I so desperately wanted to - I think that was key. I replaced smoking with exercise. As I started to feel better, it started to get easier. The reward was how psychically healthy I felt. Good luck, pray a lot and only stick with the positive influences in your life, the people who will encourage you to be the fantastic person you want to be.Change - Strategies for ?
Here is the number one rule when going through a life change:

YOU NEED TO FIND SOMETHING TO FILL THE VOID.

When you give up a part of your life, you should always try to find something to fill that hole that you old actions left. This could be a new hobby like running or photography. It could be a new habbit, like playing with your dog or chewing gum. Anything really. Just fill it with a GOOD habit so as to not fall into another self-destructive pattern.
